Finger Print Jewellery – A Keepsake That is Both Elegant & Timeless!

Finger print jewellery is one of the best ways to keep the loved one’s memory for a life time. The manufacturing of Fingerprint Jewellery depends upon companies to companies i.e., which type of material they are using to manufacture a particular type of jewellery i.e., pendants, earrings, lockets etc. The key point that should be kept in mind is that the basic of manufacturing this remains same. The steps that should be taken in order to manufacture finger print jewellery are as follows:

The first step is to make an order to the company in order to get a moulding kit or if a person has decided to make finger print jewellery by himself, then he should collect some polymer clay. After collecting the clay, the make step is to make more pliable by working on it by hand.

The second step is to make the finger print impression on the material. If a person wants to get it done from the company, then he/she have to do it on the moulding kit that is received from the company and the person who is making it by himself have to do it on the clay. The person has to lay a sheet of wax paper on the table and the conditioned clay on which he has been doing work to make it more pliable. Before making the impressions on the clay, it should be reduced to a thickness which is specific for specific types of jewellery. After reducing the thickness, gently put a finger on it & move it from side to side in order to get a good fingerprint impression.

The third step is to lay the fingerprint impression on a piece of baker’s parchment paper and allow it to get harder for a couple of hours.

The next step is to put the metal powder on the clay and the powder should also be there in between the ridges of the fingerprint.

The next step is to bake the clay according to the specifications of the clay manufacturer.

Then the fingerprint pendant should be cooled down and the basic Fingerprint Jewellery is almost ready without any finishing or shining properties.

The whole process of manufacturing the finger print jewellery is not that simple as it seems to be. Manufacturer has to make sure that during each step the appropriate amount of material should be applied.

Fingerprint Jewellery – Creating a Lasting Memory!

Fingerprints are impressions on our hand. Fingerprint Jewellery helps us to create a lasting memory by keeping them safe. As we know all the fingerprints are unique and individual to each person. The impressions for the jewellery can be of any person either a child or an adult. The fingerprints of babies and young children are not as developed; therefore these impressions will show the shape and size of the finger, plus the little creases in the joint. Most of companies in the market are using sterling silver for the manufacturing of this fingerprint jewellery instead of pure silver which is used by a very few companies. The quality of the jewellery completely depends on the type of silver used for the manufacturing of the jewellery. The basic differences between the pure silver and sterling silver are as follows:
  • First of all, the most and important difference between the two is the amount of silver in them. Pure Silver contains 99.9 % of silver whereas Sterling Silver contains 92.5 % of silver.
  • Pure Silver has no alloys whereas sterling silver has alloys.
  • Pure silver is softer than the Sterling silver.
No matter how creative a craftsman is while making the finger print jewellery, his work will not be recognized until or unless the jewellery does not seem to good i.e., it should have a shining. The finishing processes that are done to make the Fingerprint Jewellery look good are as follows:
  • The first method is to apply Patina. Applying patina will help to accent the fingerprints and it makes the texture come alive.
  • The next step is tumbling and polishing of the jewellery that is made. This will make the jewellery to shine and look beautiful.
Most of the people have also started it doing as a hobby to learn something new and creative. There are various books available in the market which helps the people to learn this art. Many online courses are also there and most importantly a lot of academies are also there in the market to give a wide range of knowledge to the people.
